Past editions
Last year this event was a great success! 60 top UPM dual degree engineering students, 16 Companies and more than 100 personal interviews carefully organized in an event held April 9th of 2024 in Chicago at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT). Honored to count with the support of the Embassy of Spain in Washington, D.C. with the presence of the Office of Labor, Migration and Social Security in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, represented by Arantxa Herrero Merino, General Secretary, and José Ignacio Sánchez Ruiz, Office Technician, who gave the keynote speech on Social Protection for Spanish Citizens Abroad: with interesting tips for workers with careers straddling the US and Spain. The event ended with an open networking session attended by companies, students and IIT representatives. Here are some pictures from last year!

FAQ’s
Can students work in the U.S.?
Yes. As the candidates are in the STEM field and hold an F-1 visa, they are eligible to receive OPT/CPT permission, allowing them to work for at least 3 years in the U.S.
Do I need to sponsor the candidates?
No. Since they receive OPT permission, they can work in the U.S. for at least 3 years without any sponsorship.
How many people from each company can attend the fair?
Usually, there are 1 or 2 people from each company. If more people are needed, do not hesitate to ask, and we will do our best to make it possible.
Do we have a Booth in the fair?
The fair is oriented to do individual interviews to shortlisted candidates. Each Company have a large table where can put its information and it is around that table that the interviews are being held (see pictures from previous editions).
What types of student profiles are expected to attend the fair?
All our students hold a Spanish bachelor’s degree and a double-degree master’s, granting them both Spanish and American certifications. They are engineers with expertise across a wide range of disciplines, including: Computer Science / Artificial Intelligence / Industrial Technology & Mgmt / Electrical Engineering / Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering / Finance / Information Technology & Mgmt / Civil, Architectural & Environmental
If you’re looking for a specific profile not listed here, feel free to reach out to us (alumni.usa@upm.es) — we might have exactly what you need!
How are the candidates selected?
Candidate selection involves companies submitting profiles and job requirements, the organization compiling candidate lists based on these profiles, and companies then shortlisting candidates for interviews from the provided lists. This ensures an organized approach to the selection process.
Can I select the candidates to be interviewed?
Of course. Each Company will only interview the candidates that it have selected.
Can I conduct the interviews online?
Yes, you can conduct the interviews online. While we highly encourage in-person attendance to make the most of networking opportunities and meeting students face-to-face, we understand that traveling may not always be possible. If you’re unable to attend in person, please let us know, we will facilitate everything for you. However, please note that you won’t be able to access student information or conduct interviews before the fair date (April 7th); interviews can only take place the same day of the event or after.
